I am on the hunt for sponsorship/donation of gifts. Last year, we had multiple restaurants and businesses offer gift cards/vouchers, and we also had small business owners put together packages to win as well (hair care, Thirty One bags, free oil changes, etc.) A thank you to Matt Joslin last year for the heavy lifting in this department.
We put everything in as part of the 50/50 raffle, and we will have the same kind of setup this year. (A silent auction is difficult since the teams who make the championship games get last dibs on bidding.) JUSTBATS.COM sent a $100 gift card which will be part of the bucket of prizes this year! For those businesses who don’t have a monetary prize like a gift card to put towards prizes (real estate, insurance, title company, etc…) we have a different way you can donate this year: For $100, we will place a sign/banner/poster you would like to provide on the fence in the facility. (I can provide my tax ID for donation purposes if needed.) This will give your business exposure for the weekend, and most importantly provide a wonderful donation to the cause. If anyone has contacts they could share this with, please do so! Multiple signs will have a better price for those interested. Hi everyone. It’s July already, wow!! A couple posts coming to keep you all updated...
I am still looking for teams for 3 divisions: 10u, 11u, and 12u. 9u is full and I have teams interested if we expand that age, which is AWESOME! However, if we go down the path of expanding an age we limit the # of teams in other divisions b/c of field/time capacity. Simply put, PLEASE reach out to fellow coaches/parents/teams and get them on board for a great weekend. Between getting the experience of live baseball before the games count at new pitching distances and base paths, it will also give teams who have brought on new kiddos a chance to mesh before the season starts. Good morning everyone. Hope your Father's Day was enjoyable, especially with good weather for baseball.
I've elected to punt on Tiffany Springs. 6 weeks later and I still can't get an official answer from NSA/KC Sports! I'll spare you my tangent about over promise/under delivering and move right along... I STILL NEED TEAMS FOR 9U-12U DIVISIONS. While I have heard from A LOT of teams who participated in last year's tournament, there are some of you still sitting in the dugout. Please let me know if you are interested in playing before your age division fills up. As crazy as it sounds, this thing is right around the corner! Spread the word for me please! If you are going to have a team this fall but you're not sure your roster will be set by then, grab a couple replacements or put 2 teams together and get signed up. It's open roster! Lastly, to my older teams and 8u machine pitch, I'm sorry. I tried like hell to get Platte Purchase again this year and I thought for sure Tiffany was locked down. I wanted to have all ages represented, and next year I will! Good evening everyone. While I am still waiting on a final approval in the hopes of using Tiffany Springs (I’ve been told I should hear in the coming days) I have received approval to use Pleasant Valley Park. At this point, I’m moving forward with planning a tournament consisting of the 4 ages I have the most teams. IF I get a green light on Tiffany, I’ll take these plans, expand them, and add in the additional age brackets (or additional brackets of the same age.) Bear with me, I'm trying!!
THAT BEING SAID, I am looking for teams that will be playing 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U this fall. I plan to have SEVEN teams per age group simply based on the feasibility of getting everyone 2 pool games and at least one bracket game (guaranteed 3 games.) The sooner I can get slots filled, the sooner I can get schedules put together. Cost will be $350/team, guaranteed 3 games on August 10-11. Baseballs and umpires will be provided, and we will follow NKCA rules. I have information regarding ties, extra innings, time limits, and pitching rules for those teams looking for that as well. Please pass this information on to your coaches or whoever needs to see it. If anyone has questions please don’t hesitate to message me on here, text me at 816.305.8189, or call me. Lastly I say THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your support and patience. I am doing all I can to make this as big (but organized) as possible. For those of you still reading, I have solidified a permanent home for this tournament starting in 2020. Exciting news to come!! I repeated over and again last year how I wanted to be as transparent as possible with everything that is this tournament. This year is no exception.
As was the case last year, I am once again waiting on the city. I have been advised (although not directly from the city to this point) Platte Purchase is not available for me to use this year. While I’m saddened (and frustrated) at the news, we push on. I have a contact with Tiffany Springs who I am awaiting to hear back from, and I have reached out to Fountain Bluff as well. Happy Rock is too expensive; they’re very proud of their fields, concession stands and ‘dues they will collect,’ as well as no access to pitching mounds. Pleasant Valley is an option, but they’re run by...you guessed it...the city. Dates wise, my ideal scenario is for August 10 and 11, with Friday the 9th being an option if necessary and/or we get a plethora of teams and need the extra night OR we are limited on fields for multiple age groups. Worst case, I could look at having it the 17-18 of August, however the fall season of NKCA will most likely start that weekend. What have you learned from this? Probably not much, but I want to keep you all in the loop. I appreciate everyone’s support as always, and I am beyond determined to make this happen again for my little 👼. If anyone has any avenues, contacts, or ideas/suggestions please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! 💚 While no dates have been set to this point, I want to invite you all to this page. In the coming weeks I will get some concrete dates for the 2nd edition of this fantastic event. My hope is to have it as a preseason tournament for all teams making the transition to their new age level of baseball, new pitching/base path distances, etc... We had 24 teams participate last year and based on several conversations I have already had, it sounds like it will be growing!! More details to come!!
This is the home for all information about the annual baseball tournament. My goal is to have full disclosure for all coaches and parent. As I said last year numerous times, by no means am I a tournament director. I feel organ donation is incredibly important, and I owe it to my guardian angel to build a tradition in her honor.
